Independence Day - Part 2

The 4th has been a blast - literally. We kicked off the day with a Capitol Hill tour taking off from my Broadway pad and exploring on foot, on this unusually hot and sunny Seattle day [locals claim that the 4th always marks the start of the Seattle summer -- keeping my fingers crossed for everyone who gets to stay in town - he he].

We swung by 'Waldo's' -- The Corpse Flower currently in bloom at the Seattle Conservatory -- very impressive to look at, but by no means as smelly as I had expected. Maybe because it is yet to unfold completely.

After that we paid our respects to Bruce & Brandon lee - apparently a quite popular destination, judging by the number of cars and pick up trucks pulling pretty much right up to their graves...

Next up was the Newport Shores neighborhood party (see top photo!) - very charming - lots of red, white & blue, happy kids and great, great home made Chili.

Full and happy, we made our way back to Seattle to watch the Wamu Fireworks that were indeed impressive - probably the largest and best I've ever seen. It sure is comforting to know that my monthly account fee is getting spent towards something useful.

Independence Day

Today is independence Day - happy birthday America.
Looks like we'll be spending the day in 2 places - for a while we'll be hanging out with the Lines in the Newport Shores (Bellevue). Their independence day program offers everything from the "dress up you pet in patriotic colors" to the "mailbox decorating contest" to "apple pie tasting" and "rubber duck races" - think this is as good as it gets, when it comes to showing Dad what the US is really like... Later we'll come back to my place and walk down the hill to where we can enjoy the official Seattle Lake Union Fireworks
Meanwhile Dad has started making serious plans for the road ahead, see image...

the blog is alive!

The blog is up - time to start tracking the adventures of moeller-hansen & hansen in the wild American west.
